About Me

Hello!  My name is Hans (pronounced "Hawnz").  Born, raised, and growing up in Oregon, I studied and received a BA in Music Education at Linfield College.  While there I discovered an interest in photography.  After 4 years of teaching in public schools with insane schedules, I needed a change.  I had continued learning photography techniques, growing my knowledge base, and strengthening my compositional style.  My hobby of photography slowly turned into a profession as people began hiring me.  Besides photography, I am also a substitute teacher for some of the public school districts around Portland, and provide private music lessons to students as well.

Styles, Abilities, and Interests

I enjoy many styles of photography, as each area brings it own set of challenges, techniques, and rewards.  I enjoy finding the best angle and staging the scene for real estate and product photos, working with people (and pets) to create great posed and candid portraits, and flying my drone to get views otherwise impossible.

What I am working on now

Having moved to Eugene in 2022, I am working on growing my clientele in and around Eugene.  I still travel regularly either up to Portland, or out to the Coast, or over to Central Oregon for photo projects, but look forward to having less long-distance drives!  About 99% of the photos that I take now are for hired projects, be it real estate, headshots, family portraits, weddings, events, commercials. 

I do miss taking as many photos for my own enjoyment as I used to, but nature photos for my own enjoyment don't pay as well as the other types of photos I get hired to take.

However, If you are interested in some wonderful artwork for your wall or coffee table, you could purchase a print (or at least view some pretty photos!).
